This thesis focused on examining “Brahms Sonata no.1 op.120 for clarinet and piano”.This piece not only served as an iconic 19th-century solo piece of clarinet,but also one of the main piece played by the composer during his graduation recital.As a Clarinet performer,I wish the readers can understand the music idea and style through my analysis of deepness and wideness in Brahms’ s work.This thesis can be subdivide into three chapters.The first chapter first section briefly describes Brahms’ life and the background of the German romantic school in the 19 th century.The second section explains his writing background and composition techniques.The second chapter explains the music analysis of Brahms Clarinet Sonata No.1,Op.120.The third chapter discusses the author’s musical expression,tension,interpretation and techniques of this music piece.The last part of the thesis will be the conclusion of the previous chapters.I try to make a rational study of this piece,therefore I can have a deeper understanding of this piece and I hope this can help me to fulfill to the expressed emotion and style needs in Brahms’ works. |
