Edward Benjamin Britten(1913-1976)was a famous British composer,conductor and pianist in the 20 th century.His opera Peter Grimes brought it to international renown,and subsequent operas such as Billy Budd and A Midsummer Night’s Dream revived the British opera.The creation of vocal music is also an important creative field for Britten.Britten especially loves the creation of vocal sycle.The languages include English,Italian,French,German,Russian and so on.A large part of them was written for his partner Peter Peers who was tenor.Seven Sonnets of Michelangelo(1940),a set of intense and innocent love songs,was the first major work for Peers.Michelangelo(1475-1564)was an Italian Renaissance master,sculptor and painter,but few people know his identity as a poet.He has been keen on poetry creation since childhood,and his poems are the soul destination of his tired body.The seven Petrarch-style poems with the theme of "love",the distinctive Italian rhythm soundtrack and the singer’s artistic personality made this work a great success as soon as it was premiered,and it has a very high artistic value.The purpose of this paper is to study the work in detail from the perspectives of poetry interpretation,music ontology analysis,vocal music singing tips,as well as the life and era background of the composer,poet and singer,so as to achieve a better interpretation of the work.purpose and have certain academic reference value.
