Deep learning regards as an important method to cultivate and develop the learners’ core literacy,and it is also the active response of educational reform to the challenges of the times.In the learning activities of colleges and universities,college English plays an important role and is one of the central tasks of college students learning.Moreover,English vocabulary deep learning is very important to improve college students’ vocabulary ability and English ability.In recent decades,plenty of studies have been conducted on deep learning from different perspectives abroad and at home,but most of them mainly focus on theoretical research,and only a few scholars carry out relevant empirical research.In previous studies,the author has found that most college students still learn with a surface approach that lacks deep learning ability,and there is no exception in English vocabulary.However,with the rapid development of science and technologies,the breakthrough in time-space restriction realizes the development of new learning method.Using mobile technologies and devices to study English vocabulary has already become an important way of vocabulary learning.Some researchers have proposed that mobile learning can promote the occurrence of deep learning,but there are few researchers studied it.Particularly about the study of effects on English vocabulary deep learning,the effectiveness of it is not yet supported with sufficient experiments and data.Based on those research gaps,with the deep learning theory as the theoretical base,this study carries out the quantitative and qualitative research through questionnaires,interviews,and journals with 483 non-English majors of freshmen and sophomore from University.In order to study the effects of mobile learning on the English vocabulary deep learning among college students,the author poses the following two research questions:(1)What’s the current situation of English vocabulary mobile learning among college students?(2)What is the effect of English vocabulary deep learning through mobile learning? To what extent has mobile learning contributed to the English vocabulary deep learning?Based on these questions,the author studies the current situation of mobile learning in English vocabulary study among college students and the effects of mobile learning on different dimensions of English vocabulary deep learning.Through the data analysis,this study led to the following main findings:(1)Mobile learning has become an important way of English vocabulary learning.College students have the need to effectively improve their ability to use their English vocabulary knowledge,and also have high expectations for the effect on the promotion of vocabulary deep learning through mobile learning.(2)Mobile learning does promote the English vocabulary deep learning.Effects of conditional dimensions on English vocabulary deep learning is better than the competence dimensions.(3)From the purpose of realizing the effects of English vocabulary deep learning and improvement of vocabulary ability,most of the students are satisfied with the software they have used.But it has different effects on different dimensions.(4)From the conditional dimensions of realizing English vocabulary deep learning,mobile learning plays the best role in promoting learners’ active learning.The effects on organization and presentation of learning materials dimension are ranking in the second.It still needs to be strengthened in promoting students’ ability to creatively use the higher-order thinking skills.In the competence dimensions of English vocabulary deep,especially in the vocabulary breadth and meta-vocabulary knowledge sub-dimensions,mobile learning has a significant promoting effect.It also has a positive effect on the vocabulary depth and the lexical organization sub-dimensions.However,the effects of mobile learning on the receptive-productive skills and semantic autonomy sub-dimensions still need to be improved.According to the research findings,the author gives suggestions to make the English vocabulary learning App enrich its functions that can help further improve the deep learning effects on English vocabulary deep learning.Therefore,this study can provide data support for the effect of mobile learning on English vocabulary deep learning. |
