Researchers at home and abroad generally claim that the combination of mobile learning and language learning has great developmental potential in the studies,which can make a compensation for the disadvantages of traditional college English vocabulary learning.It is of theoretical and practical significance to investigate college students' use of mobile learning for English vocabulary and their attitudes and acceptance towards this new learning method,consequently to improve vocabulary learning effect and meet learners' needs.This study investigated 210 college students in Jiangxi Normal University through a questionnaire survey and an interview to answer the following three questions:(1)What is the overall profile of college students' English vocabulary mobile learning?(2)What are the attitudes of college students towards English vocabulary mobile learning?(3)What are the differences of attitudes towards English vocabulary mobile learning between English majors and non-English majors? By adopting descriptive analysis and independent-sample T-test through SPSS 22.0,this study helps students,English teachers,and software developers have a deeper understanding of the current status of English vocabulary mobile learning,and figures out the reasons for the differences of attitudes towards English vocabulary mobile learning between English majors and non-English majors.The following conclusions were drawn:(1)Almost all college students have mobile devices on their own and can use them to learn English vocabulary,but with short learning time and low frequency.(2)Students hold a positive attitude towards mobile learning of English vocabulary and claim that mobile learning of English vocabulary has a good development prospect.(3)Compared with English majors,non-English majors are more supportive about English vocabulary mobile learning and are positive towards different learning effect of vocabulary brought by the use of mobile devices,but no significant difference has been identified in attitude towards different presentation of vocabulary and advantages of vocabulary by mobile learning.On this basis,this paper puts forward some suggestions from three perspectives,including students,English teachers and software developers,striving to create abetter mobile learning environment for college students.
