This paper divides the narrative communication mode of meta-fiction adapted films into three levels based on novels. The three levels are from inside to outside:visual narrator-visuals recipient(story)level, hidden narrator-hidden recipient(text)level,creator-viewer(reality)level.By taking The French Lieutenant’s Woman and Atonement as examples, the author starts from the perspective of narrative communication to analyze and explore the narrative communication of the two films in the hope to enrich the research of the meta-fiction adapted films, discuss the communication between the creators and the audience, and to probe into new modes of discourse. The main body of this paper is divided into five chapters.Chapter I expounds the research background, significance and current situation;Chapter II defines the concepts of meta-novel and narrative communication;Chapter III analyses the structure of the narrative communication between the two films from hidden narrator-hidden recipient(text)level and visual narrator-visual recipient(story)level;Chapter IV starts with the audio-visuals to analyze how the creators make this complex structure an audio-visual work; The last chapter explores the meaning of narrative communication from the perspective of real creators and real audiences. It is believed that the narrative communication of meta-fiction adapted films is,on the one hand, the introspection of culture, and on the other hand,it is the exploration of "reality" and "fiction". |
