An Exploration Of The Creative Practice Of Meta-Film

Based on the creative practice of meta-cinema,this paper explores the possibilities of meta-cinematic realisation from both the play and the image.At the level of playwriting,it focuses on the specific forms of meta-narrative expression in metacinema,such as "self-referential","play within a play" and "parody".At the image level,the study focuses on the various ways and techniques of visual communication in metafilm,such as "inter-mediality",the transformation between dream and reality,and the use of colour in images.Through a detailed analysis of the short film "The Plot",the current dilemmas of meta-film are presented,pointing out that the creator’s expression of "self-reference" needs to take into account the audience’s acceptability,and that the excessive use of "parody" may create a certain aesthetic impact on the senses.It is pointed out that the creators’ expression of "self-reference" needs to take into account the audience’s acceptability,and that the excessive use of "parody" may cause aesthetic fatigue in the senses.At the same time,there may be some better ways to realise metafilm,such as strengthening the "play within a play" structure to enhance the richness of the plot design;flexibly using multi-media elements to achieve a new visual effect;and experimenting with stylisation in terms of image colour.It is hoped that through this study,some pros and cons will be drawn out,and new ideas and methods will be offered to the creators of meta-films for reference.
