On Cheng Zhongying’s Interpretation Of Traditional Confucianism

Paper is the study of the third generation of new Confucian Cheng Zhongying,as is still active in the field of philosophy of Chinese Confucian scholars,Cheng Zhongying affected by family since childhood laid a solid foundation of Chinese philosophy,after accepting the influence of western philosophy,he was standing on the position of world philosophy,through their own efforts to creatively integrate Chinese and western culture,Chinese and western philosophy,Form their own unique perspective of interpretation.This paper first expounds the background of the formation of Confucianism in Cheng Zhongying’s interpretation,respectively from the time background and personal background of interpretation.Starting from the social background at that time,it elaborates the crisis of Confucianism caused by the cultural conflict between China and the West in modern times,as well as the deficiency of the early new Confucian interpretation.On the basis of summarizing the experience of predecessors,the Hawaiian Confucian school represented by Cheng Zhongying proposed that we should interpret Confucianism creatively.Then the thesis discusses the theoretical basis of Cheng Zhongying’s interpretation thought.Cheng Zhongying’s interpretation is a new attempt on the basis of the traditional Chinese and western interpretation.Learn from the Chinese traditional "interpretation",this paper expounds the traditional interpretation of train of thought and the modern Confucian in order to meet the needs of times and make the interpretation of the new attempt,then expounds the development background of the western hermeneutics and deficiency,and Cheng Zhongying fusion,western interpretation thinking again later "ontological hermeneutics" put forward by the new way of thinking.Cheng Zhongying put forward that the value of Confucian philosophy lies in: the universe noumenon philosophy of integrating nature and man with virtue,the ideal political philosophy of combining inside and outside,the life cultivation philosophy of combining honesty,wisdom and ability,and the social practice philosophy of combining knowledge and action,thus the content of Confucian interpretation is also launched.The values of these four aspects determine the opportunity,mainstream and direction of the development of Confucianism.These four spirits are complementary to each other,and they combine together to produce great potential and creativity,thus promoting the initiation,generation and expansion of Confucian philosophy,and thus constitute the unique value of Confucian philosophy.Cheng Zhongying’s interpretation of Confucianism had three main purposes.First of all,his interpretation is to rebuild Chinese philosophy and realize its modernization and internationalization on this basis.Secondly,he wanted to use the reinterpreted Chinese philosophy to solve the cultural difficulties brought about by the rapid development of Western productive forces in modern times.Finally,to promote the exchange and integration of Chinese and Western cultures.At the end of the paper,the author elaborates the interpretation ideas of Cheng Zhongying Confucianism from three aspects of the characteristics,shortcomings and modern values of the interpretation.Cheng Zhongying,standing on the position of world philosophy,abandoned the traditional Confucian classics interpretation of one-sided maintain the thinking of "dao",with a tolerant attitude reflect on the traditional,is clear about the Confucianism in the interpretation of the unique value and status,and to critically review its inherent deficiency,and expounds the Chinese culture,especially the core values of Confucian philosophy and Chinese philosophy deep idea,It can be said that this new attempt from the angle of interpretation not only carries forward Confucianism and expands the influence of Confucianism in the world,but also helps us to make a new interpretation of Chinese philosophical tradition in line with the spirit of the Times in our current world,so as to revitalize Confucianism.
