As an important branch of figure painting,beauty painting has a very long history.Its origin can be traced back to the Eastern Zhou Dynasty and even earlier,from the Xiuguqing statues in the Six Dynasties to the plump beauty of the Sui,Tang and the Five Dynasties,to the dignity and beauty of the Song and Yuan dynasties,and to the fragility of the Ming and Qing dynasties.It reflects the aesthetics of each era.Thoughts and artistic interest also contain rich cultural connotations.Starting from Wang Wei,literati painting began to occupy an important position in the painting circle,and its influence spread to the development of Ming and Qing dynasty paintings,which made the Ming and Qing dynasty paintings begin to move closer to the aesthetic characteristics of the highly respected literati paintings,resulting in corresponding literati feelings.The rapid changes in society have brought about the expression of differences in aesthetic taste,expressing the trend of the spirit of the times in the form of painting art.This paper is divided into six parts:Introduction: First,it explains the research purpose and practical significance of this article.Secondly,it outlines the basic situation of the research on Ming and Qing dynasty paintings at home and abroad.Finally,it briefly describes the research ideas,research methods and innovations of this article.The first chapter: Through an overview of the beauty paintings of the past dynasties,taking historical time as the main line,combing the historical background of each era to sort out the expression forms and aesthetic characteristics of the beauty paintings before the Ming and Qing Dynasties,and reflecting the social and cultural features of different eras.Chapter two: Focusing on the social background and cultural context of the Ming and Qing Dynasties,through analyzing the influence of politics,economy,ideology,and culture on the Ming and Qing Dynasty beauty paintings,the historical context of the Ming and Qing Dynasty beauty paintings is explained in four dimensions.Chapter three: Through a specific analysis of the feelings of the Chinese in the Ming and Qing dynasty beauty paintings,it reflects the spiritual connotation in the Ming and Qing dynasty beauty paintings,and examines the hidden cultural factors that affect the formation of the literati’s feelings and the historical metaphors behind them.Chapter four: Aiming at the characteristics of literati paintings in Ming and Qing dynasty beauty paintings,using the method of iconography to examine the style and subject matter of Ming and Qing dynasty beauty paintings from the work images,revealing the expression form and aesthetics of the Chinese people’s feelings in Ming and Qing dynasty paintings Features reflect the aesthetic taste and artistic characteristics of the society during the Ming and Qing Dynasties.Chapter five: Focusing on the current value interpretation of the aesthetic thoughts of beauty paintings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties,discussing the aesthetic thoughts of the beauty paintings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties and their influence on later generations of beauty paintings.Integrating and exploring the issues of aesthetic theory and the inheritance and development of beauty paintings,we try to cut into the contemporary cultural context,conform to the development of the times,and make Ming and Qing Dynasty beauty paintings continue to show vigorous vitality in the contemporary aesthetic value system.To sum up,Ming and Qing dynasty beauty paintings have fully absorbed the formal characteristics of literati paintings,commonality and individuality coexist,and the literati sentiment contained therein is a way for Ming and Qing literati to express themselves for self-entertainment,reflecting the inherent cultural accomplishment and spiritual pursuit of literati This is a cultural phenomenon constructed by the interweaving of the special cultural history and the personal situation of the literati in the Ming and Qing Dynasties,which determines the unique artistic style of the Ming and Qing beauty paintings.
