A Study On The Presentation And Presentation Method Of Socialist Core Values Contained In The English Textbooks Used By Lower Secondary School ——Taking The Go For It Textbooks As An Example

The socialist core values clearly answer the two questions of what kind of people to cultivate and how to cultivate them,and it is the value position that junior high school English textbooks should adhere to.The correct presentation of socialist core values in junior high school English textbooks is conducive to guiding students to form excellent ideological and moral qualities and to establishing correct values.However,the research on the socialist core values in textbooks mostly focuses on Chinese and political subjects,and there are few studies on English textbooks.And in-depth exploration of the presentation characteristics and presentation methods of socialist core values in junior high school English textbooks,further research is needed.This study takes the Go For It textbooks,which is the most widely used by junior high school,as an example.The text analysis approach was used to deeply analyze the presentation patterns and presentation methods of the socialist core values in the reading materials of the Go For It textbooks.The first is the encoding of discourse positioning.The second is the three-level coding of the socialist core values in the textbook,and the last is the three-level coding of the presentation methods of the socialist core values.The analysis results show that: the socialist core values are stable and different in the presentation of different grades;the socialist core values are presented in different grades and different stages of different grades in the textbooks of the People’s Education Edition,with continuity;The core values appear to be "broken" and lack systematization;the socialist core values are presented in a combination of explicit and implicit,and the implicit core values are mainly presented;the socialist core values are presented in multiple ways,and more emphasis is placed on reasoning.In order to promote the organic integration of socialist core values in various editions of English textbooks and better play their value-oriented role,textbook compilation should: first,pay attention to the stable and continuous presentation of socialist core values;second,pay attention to the systematic presentation of socialist core values;third,pay attention to the combination of explicit and implicit to present the core socialist values,and to present the core socialist values in a diverse manner.Teachers should do: first,raise the level of awareness of socialist core values and find the elements of socialist core values in textbooks;second,pay attention to the connection between different subjects and different teaching resources,and design various teaching activities;third,focus on teaching cases,conduct regular teaching discussions and do teaching reflections.
