English Curriculum Standard(2017)points out that English writing ability reflects learners’ expression ability,thinking ability,communication ability,and comprehensive language ability.However,students’ English writing ability has been relatively weak so far.Therefore,English teachers urgently need to try an efficient writing teaching approach to improve students’ English writing levels gradually.Based on the communicative and cooperative learning theories,this thesis attempts to apply the process writing approach to English writing teaching to verify its feasibility and effectiveness.The process writing approach enables students to change from passive learning to active learning in the whole writing process,so as to improve their writing ability.The author takes students in two classes of senior three in a senior high school in Shandong Province as the research subjects.This thesis aims to study two issues: the first is to explore how teachers apply the process writing approach to high school English writing teaching,and the second is to explore the effect of the process writing approach on students’ English writing.This study uses tests,questionnaires,and interviews as instruments to conduct a teaching experiment for nearly three months.Before the experiment,the author distributes questionnaires in two classes with the same teaching level to understand the students’ English writing attitudes,writing concepts and writing habits.In the experiment,the experimental class uses the process teaching approach for writing,while the control class uses the traditional approach.After the experiment,the questionnaires are distributed to the two classes again,and the two classes are also given a post-writing test to analyze the changes in students’ writing.In addition,the author conducts interviews with students in experimental class to obtain more research data.The results of the study not only discuss how teachers apply the process writing approach to high school English writing teaching,but also show that the application of the process teaching approach to high school English writing class can change students’ attitudes towards English writing and promote the improvement of students’ writing ability.In summary,the process teaching approach is suitable for senior high school English writing teaching.The author hopes this research can provide some reference for the writing teaching of high school English teachers.At the same time,teachers are still required to continuously explore,actively improve,and use flexibly in teaching practice to make it more systematic and scientific. |
