Sexism is an important indicator to promote gender equality, and it is also an important content in the field of prejudice research. With the changes of the times, the manifestations of sexism are also changing. In recent years, there has been a new angle to study women’s attitude, that is,from two dimensions of hostile sexism and benevolent sexism, which is ambivalent sexism.Like most bias studies, ambivalent sexism is also influenced by cognitive factors. As a cognitive variable developed in daily communication, sense of power can be regarded as a stable trait, and it can also be influenced by the situation. Therefore, this study will explore the influence of the trait and state of power sense on ambivalent sexism, and the influence of the matching of this trait and state on ambivalent sexism from the perspective of the person-environment fit.In addition,as an important factor affecting individual’s acceptance of inequality, whether social dominance orientation will have an impact on the sense of power and ambivalent sexism is also one of the focuses of this study.Mainly using questionnaire method and experimental method, through two studies.Firstly,360 questionnaires were distributed in Chengdu universities to measure the trait power sense, ambivalent sexism and social dominance orientation, and to explore the influence of trait power sense on ambivalent sexism and the moderating effect of social dominance orientation. The results show that the higher trait power sense, the higher hostile sexism and benevolent sexism; The influence of social dominance orientation to adjust the sense of trait power sense,on hostile sexism.Secondly,266 college students in Chengdu were selected to investigate the influence of the matching of trait power sense and state power sense on hostile sexism and benevolent sexism, and the moderating effect of social dominance orientation. The results show that individuals with high and low sense of state power have significant differences in hostile sexism and benevolent sexism.By investigating the influence of trait and state matching of power sense on hostile sexism and benevolent sexism,it is found that when the subjects with high trait power sense are in the situation of high state power sense, their hostile sexism and benevolent sexism level is significantly higher than that of other matching situations. When the subjects with low sense of trait power sense are in the situation of low sense of state power, their hostile sexism and benevolent sexism level is significantly lower than that of other matched situations. Finally, the social dominance orientation partially regulates the influence of trait and state matching of power sense on hostile sexism. To sum up,the following conclusions can be drawn:(1)Trait power sense positively predicts hostile sexism and benevolent sexism.(2)State power sense positively predicts hostile sexism and benevolent sexism.(3)when the subjects with high trait power sense are in the situation of high state power sense, their hostile sexism and benevolent sexism level is significantly higher than that of other matching situations. When the subjects with low sense of trait power sense are in the situation of low sense of state power, their hostile sexism and benevolent sexism level is significantly lower than that of other matched situations.(4)Social dominance orientation can regulate the influence of trait power sense on hostile sexism.(5)Social dominance orientation partially regulates the influence of trait and state matching of power sense on hostile sexism.
