The Influence Of Power On Trust

Power and trust are important media for interpersonal communication,social exchange and business system operation.The core content of this paper is to explore the influence of the power on trust,because the power and trust connotation widely,operations and measuring way are numerous,so the types of power will be divided into power status and power trait respectively,the power status refers to the power can be manipulated and subject to change with the change of the power situation,power status can be changed by manipulated power's structure and power's sense;Power trait refers to the evaluation of individual power influenced by the social environment for a long time and form the relatively stable tendency.In this paper,trust is defined as the willingness and action that individuals are willing to commit their own interests to the other party in uncertain situations.The influence of power on trust is explored by two research that are consisted of four experiments,the experimental 1 is to explore the influence of power on trust from the perspective of structural power,the experiment 2 is to explore the power trait in the regulating role in the structural power influence on trust,the experimental 3 is to explore the influence of power on trust from the perspective of perceptual power,the experimental 4 is to explore the power trait in the regulating role in the perceptual power effect on trust.Through four experiments,it can be concluded that:(1)Whether under the structural power situation or under the perceptual power words,compared with the one under low power situation(vocabulary),the one under high power situation(vocabulary)are more willing to believe each other.(2)Power trait negatively affects the choice of trust,individuals with high power trait have less trust in others than individuals with low power trait.(3)Under different structural power situations(inductive power words),the individual's power trait will regulate the influence of structural power(perceived power)on trust.In the study of a structural power,whether in high power situation or in low power situation,the subjects with high power trait,the ratings of trust behavior are significantly lower than the one with low power traits,but the subjects with high power trait in low power situation,whose behavior score is lower.The second study is mainly focusing on the perceptual power,the subjects with high power trait in the face of the high power words,their choices are more trust,whether the subjects with low power trait in the face of the high power words or low power words,their trust choice are no difference.
