Metaphor Analysis Of Chinese Teachers From Student’s And Teacher’s Perspectives

Abstract/Summary:
Chinese teacher metaphor is one of the topics that have been paid attention to recently.Different Chinese teacher metaphors reflect different teaching ideas.Chinese teachers have different teaching behaviors under the influence of different teaching ideas.Teachers’ teaching behaviors affect students’ perception of teacher metaphors in Chinese teaching.Therefore,analyzing Chinese teacher metaphors from the perspective of teachers and students can promote Chinese teachers’ teaching reflection from different dimensions,Fully understand the teaching concept,and then adjust the teaching behavior.This paper adopts the research method of qualitative research,through the form of interview,mainly by collecting the feedback of 10 Chinese learners and 3 Chinese teachers from different countries on Chinese teacher metaphor,and recalls and describes the teachers’ teaching behavior.The results show that the feedback of three Chinese teachers on Chinese teacher metaphor is:"Mother,process,friend,scaffold,collaborator" and so on;The feedback of 10 Chinese learners on the metaphor of Chinese teachers was "friends,sister,doctors,bridges,navigation,hands and guides",and the reasons for the metaphor and some teaching behaviors were collected during the interview;Secondly,by combing the teaching concept,this paper summarizes the evaluation basis of "Teacher centered" as follows:(1)teaching is guided and controlled by teachers;(2)Students spend their time studying to the maximum extent;(3)Minimize negative emotions,etc;The judgment basis of "student-centered" is summarized as follows:(1)we should recognize that students are independent people;(2)Pay attention to students’ learning;(3)Understand the learning effect through teaching evaluation;The evaluation basis of "learning centered" is summarized as follows:(1)teachers and students reach a cooperative consensus;(2)Teachers control classroom time and use it for students’ effective learning;(3)Consider what students will learn when designing teaching tasks.According to the evaluation criteria of teaching philosophy,it is found that the Chinese teacher metaphor adopted by teachers and students reflects the teaching philosophy of "teacher-centered,student-centered and study-centered".From the perspective of teachers,different majors and teaching time will affect the description of Chinese teachers’ metaphors;From the perspective of students,students’ Chinese level will affect the metaphorical description of Chinese teachers.The implications of this study are as follows:first,Chinese teachers’ metaphor can help Chinese teachers reflect effectively;Second,in the process of Chinese teaching,the teaching concept shows complexity;Third,Chinese teachers should adjust their teaching ideas and behaviors according to the students’ level in the teaching process.
