This report is based on a simulated interpreting practice.The author chose a sub-panel from the Global Technology Summit as the interpreting task to carry out English-Chinese consecutive interpreting.Organized by Carnegie India and supported by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs,the 2021 Sixth Global Technology Summit was held online from Dec.14th to 16th,convening experts and scholars worldwide to discuss the trends of technology.The sub-panel interpreted is Securing Vaccine Supply Chains:Partnerships&Resilience.This report adopted the UMEER(Understanding,Memorizing,Expression,and Emergency Response)framework to analyze the interpreting practice,including successes and failures.The first chapter introduces the background,reasons for choosing the material,and the speakers.Chapter 2 depicts the process of interpreting,including the preparation and the interpreting practice.The UMEER Framework is introduced in the third chapter.Chapter 4 analyzes the interpreting practice under the UMEER framework from four perspectives,each including two successful cases and one failed case.Regarding this chapter,the author also illustrated her efforts to adopting interpreting strategies,such as correcting mistakes timely and make appropriate reasonable guesses.Besides,the report explained the reasons behind the mistakes in this interpreting practice.The last chapter introduced the gains and reflections.This practice enabled the author to deepen her understanding about interpreting strategies and the process of interpreting,which will guide the future learning and practice of interpreting.
