A Study Of The Aristotle’s "Goodness" Thought Of Political Ethics

Aristotle,a master of academic research and ideological innovation in Ancient Greece,is the first recognized "encyclopedia-like scholar" in Western history.Mainly found in "Politics","The Nicomachean Ethics" and other works,his views on political ethics originated from the specific internal and external environment of the city-state at that time,and derived from the practical investigation of the city-state.Using "goodness" as the core clue to connect citizens and city-states,in a sense that they are integrated and inseparable,Aristotle’s political ethics is a combination of theoretical narrative and practical content.First,the theoretical narrative part.In view of the multiple connotations of "political ethics",this dissertation argues that Aristotle’s "goodness" political ethics has three meanings as follows.At the macro level,goodness is the purpose of political ethics,at the meso level,the political ethical value,and at the micro level,the political ethical virtue.At the same time,the political ethics of Aristotle’s "goodness" has two extensions.At the citizen level,goodness is happiness which is the realization of soul and virtue,at the city-state level,goodness is justice which is based on the public interest.Second,the practical content part.Theory originates from practice,and ultimately returns to practice.The content construction of Aristotle’s "goodness" thought of political ethics,as far as citizens are concerned,is the shaping of good moral behavior,and the realization path is moral,intellectual,physical and aesthetic education activities;as far as the city-state is concerned,it is expressed as justice to the city-state.The pursuit of the political system is achieved through the establishment of a justice political system and city-state governance according to law.The study of Aristotle’s "goodness" political ethics will help us grasp its essentials,understand its essence,enrich and expand the research results of Western political ethics in China,on the other hand,it can also provide the construction of political ethics of Chinese characteristics,Chinese manner and Chinese style with some reference.
