This report is a practice report of the E-C translation based on Sustainable Land Management in a European Context(Excerpt)written by six editors.The excerpt mainly describes an origin that human utilized land and functions of this book,new conceptual approaches for new challenges,the current state of landscape change research in Europe and trends and drivers(political,economic,and cultural factors)of landscape change.Nowadays,human being does not make rational use of limited land resources in some degrees.Besides,there are still some urgent issues in land use waiting for human to solve.At present,China is witnessing the serious situation of land resources.For example,soil erosion is aggravated by man-made reasons;local land fiscal policies make real estate construction in full swing,occupying a lot of arable land resources.Therefore,by translating the excerpt,the author aimed to give a simple introduction to the sustainable land management in European countries to offer references to the following researchers in this area to some extent.During the translation,the author faced three difficulties: how to maintain the accuracy,logicality,and integrity of information due to language features of the source text.Since the source text is a scientific report,which belongs to informative texts,it highlights the accuracy,logicality,and integrity of information.The accuracy,logicality and integrity of information are the main difficulties in translation.Firstly,the author utilized literal translation and free translation to achieve accuracy of information.Secondly,sequential translation,inversion,division,and combination are employed to maintain logicality of information.Thirdly,integrity of information is obtained by amplification and conversion.Purposes of this report are to deepen domestic readers’ understanding of the current situation of sustainable land management in the European context,to raise public awareness of the protection of land resources.It is hoped that domestic researchers in relevant fields can reflect on the status quo and difficulties encountered in the use of land resources in China,so as to better promote sustainable land use in China and leave a beautiful home with ecological harmony for future generations.Meanwhile,the author hopes that translation ability can be improved and an ability to solve practical problems by means of various translation skills and strategies can be enhanced by this translation practice. |
