The translation practice selects the Mexico and Her People of To-day,a cross-cultural tourism translation book written by Nevin O.Winter as translation materials.The book focuses on Mexican culture,history and includes many themes,such as customs,characteristics,amusements,history and advancement of Mexicans,and the development and resources of their country.It covers multi-disciplinary knowledge,with practical features,and promotes communication and dissemination between different cultures.Translation practice involves preparation,analysis,translation,proofreading,revision and summary.The difficulty of translation is that the original text contains a lot of cultural information about Mexico.Based on the analysis of the characteristics of the text and guided by Newmark’s Communicative Translation Theory,and the dissertation studies the problems existing in translation practice at the lexical,syntactic and discourse levels.At the lexical level,substitution and annotation are used to solve the problems;At the syntactic level,voice shifting and division are used to solve the problems of passive voice and long sentences;At the discourse level,the synthesis and reconstruction are used to solve the problems of cohesion and coherence between sentences.Through the practice of translation,the target language can achieve the purpose of communication between different languages,so as to realize the reasonable conversion between English and Chinese.Through the analysis of typical cases in the process of translation and the application of appropriate translation techniques,the translation can be understood and accepted by the Chinese readers on the basis of fully respecting the original text.The translator has a deeper understanding of Communicative Translation Theory on how to deal with problems and realizes that translation needs to be learned from practice.At the same time,this translation practice shows that Newmark’s Communicative Translation Theory can effectively guide cross-cultural tourism translation,and its research results have certain reference value for those engaged in cross-cultural tourism translation in the future.Figure 0;Table 0;Reference 32...
