Alekseev(В.М.Алексеев,1881—1951)is not only the founder of Sinology in the Soviet Union, but also the founder of the Chinese classical literature study in the Soviet Union. He has made great achievements in many Sinology fields, such as Chinese literature translation and research,Chinese folk culture study,Chinese research and Sinology education and so on.He also founded the famous “Alekseev School”,which has cultivated mainstays for the development of Sinology in the Soviet Union and even in contemporary Russia.Alekseev is always faithful to the original text when translating Chinese classical literature, but it does not mean that the he has lost his autonomy.Due to the differences in the languages and cultures between China and Russia,Alekseev sometimes exerts his subjective initiative and carries out re-creation on the basis of being faithful to the original text during the translation process in order to make the translation fluent and easy to understand.Meanwhile, the differences in the languages and cultures between the two countries are also the main reason for translator to produce translation deviations. When the translator cannot understand some structures or expressions in the original text thoroughly, translation deviations are inevitable.Chinese Classical Prose is one of Alekseev’s translation works. It contains 66 articles by 22 great Chinese ancient litterateurs, accounting for about one-third of the total number of Alekseev’s Chinese classical prose translations. The proses are mainly selected from ancient Chinese classics, such as Wenxuan,Guwen Zhenbao,Guwen Guanzhi, and cover a variety of genre types, such as Ode,Ci,Biography,Preface, etc. Therefore, they are excellent examples for foreign translation of Chinese classical literature. The thesis takes the Russian version of Chinese Classical Prose by Alekseev as an example, selects typical sentences to specifically analyze its translation characteristics, summarizes translation principles and methods of Alekseev, analyzes the pros and cons of translation at two levels of understanding and expression, and proposes feasible modification plans,in order to provide reference for the Russian translation of Chinese classical literature. |
