As a new Japanese writer,Aoyama Nanae describes the changing Japanese society with a unique vision,and describes the living conditions,value choices and identity pursuit of contemporary people.Throughout her writing course,we can find her intense concern for interpersonal relationship.From the perspective of Ethical Literary Criticism,the reason why human can be distinguished from animals is that human have the ability to distinguish right from wrong,good from evil,that is,human have an ethical consciousness.In fact,the cooperative behavior of hominids is the embodiment of ethical order and ethical relationship.In other words,interpersonal relationship is an ethical relationship.This paper takes Aoyama Nanae’s novels as the research object,uses the method of Ethical Literary Criticism,combined with the background of Muen-Shakai in contemporary Japan,analyzes the ethical chaos,ethical dilemmas and ethical choices in her works,and explores how Aoyama Nanae finds the way out.Focusing on ethical identity and ethical relationship,this paper reveals various ethical chaos in the transition from group society to individual society in Japan from three aspects: the imbalance of family ethics,the distortion of gender ethics and the confusion of self-identity.It can be seen that with the loss of connection between people,social norms and the value system begin to collapse.In the face of contradictions and conflicts in the predicament,different people made different ethical choices and produced different results.In order to help people establish self-identity and a solid interpersonal relationship,Aoyama Nanae is looking for a feasible path.She hopes that people can go out of the closed space and go to the open space,break the shackles in the wider world,and reconstruct the ethical order under the gaze of the other.
