"Research Progress in Damage Evolution of Woven Composite" is a sci-tech review of composite materials selected from SCIENTIA SINICA Technologica,an authoritative journal in Chinese academic field. This article is highly professional and informative, and the target readers are mostly experts. This report is based on the Chinese-English translation of the selected text.It is composed of five chapters.Chapter One gives a general introduction of the source text and a description of the background and significance of the translation task.Chapter Two presents an analysis of the styles, types and characteristics of the source and target texts, and introduces the guiding theory, translation aids and workflow of the translation practice.Chapter Three shows the problem-solving process by case study.Chapter Four is the acquisitions and reflections. In this report, the translation difficulties are summarized at lexical, syntactic and discourse levels, and the coping strategies are formulated under the guidance of Ecotranslatology and three-dimensional transformations, based on the features of sci-tech texts and the differences between Chinese and English. The specific translation strategies adopted are as follows: the lexical level includes the four-step approach of terminology translation and the classification approach of verb translation;the syntactic level includes the structure change and the combination of sentences;the discourse level includes the application of transition words and the adjustment of the text structure.By this translation practice,it is hoped to contribute to the international exchanges in the field of composites and to the English translation of scientific papers.
