Study Of The Liexian Zhuan

Liexian Zhuan is a pioneering work of ancient Chinese immortal biography,which is of great literary value in the history of Chinese literature.Based on the text of the Liexian Zhuan,this paper makes a systematic study of the Liexian Zhuan by means of close reading,quantitative analysis,classification and induction,from the aspects of the author and completion of the Liexian Zhuan,its theme and content of the Liexian Zhuan,the artistic features of the Liexian Zhuan,Liexian Zhuan and poems about Immortals in six dynasties from Han to Beichao,in order to have a clearer understanding of the immortals,the immortal art,the art achievements and the connection with the poems about immortals in the six dynasties from Han to Beichao.First of all,it analyzes the author and creation of the Liexian Zhuan.The author of the Liexian Zhuan have always been controversial,since Ge Hong of the Eastern Jin Dynasty,the world has basically agreed that it was written by Liu Xiang.This paper also holds the same view and demonstrates the relevant basis for Liu Xiang’s creation of the Liexian Zhuan,it not only demonstrates the relevant basis of Liu Xiang’s creation of the Liexian Zhuan,but also analyzes the background of the book,including social background and ideological origins.Secondly,it explores the theme and content of the Liexian Zhuan.As a biography of immortals,Liexian Zhuan takes immortals and immortals stories as its core content,and its main purpose is to promote the belief in immortals.There are 72 immortals in the Liexian Zhuan,the specific origins of immortals and the ways of cultivating immortals are different,the display of the immortal art makes the image of immortals more rich and mysterious.In addition,it explores the artistic features of the Liexian Zhuan,including biographical style,characters,narrative art and expression techniques.The Liexian Zhuan uses biographical style to structure the whole chapter,and also uses the method of combining historical biographical style with allegory writing.In the characterization of the characters,the combination of the virtual and the real is used to create the immortals with the characteristics of typification and secularization.There are many origins of immortals,some of them are based on the facts,some of them are made up.In terms of narrative art,Liexian Zhuan has a fixed narrative mode,concise narrative language and a large number of fables,which enhance the interest of biography and the vividness of immortal image.In the way of expression,the Liexian Zhuan mainly uses imagination and exaggeration,which highlights the great power of the immortals.Finally,it analyzes the spread of the Liexian Zhuan,the relationship between the Liexian Zhuan and poems about immortals in six dynasties from Han to Beichao.Liexian Zhuan has been widely spread in the six dynasties from Han to Beichao,at that time,many scholars mentioned Liexian Zhuan in their works,or quoted or used for reference the images and stories of the Liexian Zhuan.From the relationship between the Liexian Zhuan and the poems about immortals in the six dynasties from Han to Beichao,the Liexian Zhuan not only provides a structural model for the poems about immortals in the six dynasties from Han to Beichao,but also provides a wealth of creative materials for its creation,to a certain extent,it reflects the influence of the Liexian Zhuan on the poems about immortals in the six dynasties from Han to Beichao.
