| In combination with specific translation examples and under the guidance of the category transformation theory proposed by J.C.Catford,this report takes Chapter 6 and 7 of Linguistic Landscape in the City as an example and discusses the linguistic features,translation strategies and skills of English academic texts.By analyzing the original language features,it is found that abstract nouns,prepositional phrases,post attributives and passive sentences are frequently used in academic texts,reflecting the academic and professional nature of them.Since academic texts are informative texts,the main purpose of translation should be to convey the information of the original text,and the language form of the original text will be deviated in the translation.In this report,the author applies four aspects of category shifts theory to classify the different linguistic features of the original text,discusses the translation skills used in each aspect,and analyzes the equivalence between the translated text and the original text on the information level and expression level.Combined with the characteristics of academic texts from the perspectives of structural-shifts,class-shifts,unit-shifts and intra-system-shifts,the translation of prepositions,nouns,adverbs,singular and plural nouns,prepositional phrases,post attributives,passive voice are completed by using the translation skills of restructuring,division,amplification and interpretation,so as to achieve the effects of semantic clarity and smooth expression. |
