In the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language vocabulary,metaphorical words are a special kind,reflecting the cultural characteristics and cognitive style of the Chinese nation,which are complex and complicated,and often one word corresponds to a variety of meanings.Metaphor is ubiquitous in human thinking and language expression.Cognitive linguistics believes that the essence of metaphor is to understand and experience another thing through one thing.It is not only the working mechanism of language,but also a cognitive way of human beings.At present,the advanced stage of TCFL focuses on reading and grammar,ignoring the importance of vocabulary.However,with the continuous improvement of the level of foreign students,the difficulty of vocabulary upgrading,the number of metaphorical words increased.Such words have become the focus and difficulty for foreign students to learn Chinese.How to teach such words and improve the teaching effect is an urgent problem for TCFL teachers.This paper is based on the definition of metaphor by Cai Jigang(2003)and Wang Lijie(2009).This paper holds that metaphorical words are: words included in dictionaries,which embody metaphorical mechanism in word formation and meaning development.Based on this,this paper systematically analyzes the metaphorical words in the three textbooks of Boya Chinese(advanced flying chapter).In order to understand the self-evaluation and concealment of the deep knowledge of metaphorical words,55 international students from China University of Petroleum(Beijing)were investigated by means of the self-evaluation test of metaphorical words,the acquisition test of metaphorical words and the subjective cognition questionnaire The influencing factors of the acquisition of metaphorical words and the learners’ subjective understanding of the learning of metaphorical words.In order to summarize the teaching strategies of metaphorical words and help foreign students to improve their vocabulary quickly,accurately and comprehensively.There are three main findings in this paper: first,the self-evaluation of metaphorical words’ deep knowledge of advanced students is not ideal.The types,difficulty levels,context and quantity distribution of metaphorical words all have an impact on acquisition.Secondly,the advanced stage students mainly learn metaphorical words by means of mechanical memory and context.They like and think it is necessary to learn metaphorical words.The best way to learn is to combine context with deep meaning.Finally,46% of the foreign students think that the acquisition of metaphorical words is more difficult than that of general words,and most of them think that the most difficult part is the expression and use of four words or more. |
