| In recent years,with the deepening international exchanges,the cooperative education has become a new innovation point in education industry.More and more universities and institutions at home and abroad carried out extensive cooperation and exchanges.The agreement signed by two parties is the crucial support to ensure the smooth implementation of the project and guarantee rights enjoyed by each party.If the agreement is provided by the foreign party,it should be translated into Chinese for the Chinese side to consult owing to the language and cultural differences between two parties.Hence for the purpose to set up a close cooperation relationship,it is particularly important to translate the agreements correctly and illustrate its possible meaning properly.The selected source text of this report is two agreements on cooperative education in English.The source text belongs to a kind of contract text which is a special document with legal binding to stipulate their own rights and obligations.Therefore,as a kind of legal texts,agreement texts are characterized by accurate diction,terse structure and formal style.This report aims at using Nord’s translation-oriented text analysis model to summarize the translation problems encountered in the translation process and analyze corresponding adopted translation methods from the three levels of lexis,syntax and discourse.Through this translation activity,the author realizes that the function of agreements translation is to maximally convey the relevant information in the most efficient way to the target receiver.Therefore,the source text shall not be literally translated.And the structure of the target text shall be adjusted in accordance with Chinese expressions to ensure the clarity and fluency of the target text.The author hopes that this report will provide substantive references and recommendations for the translation of similar agreements in the future. |
