A Report On The Translation Of Serial Financial Statements

In international cooperation,the disclosure of financial statements shows the financial status,business performance,and cash flow of the companies to investors,creditors,and other relevant parties,providing them with a decision-making basis for their investment,loans,and trade.Therefore,the translation quality of financial statements is essential.This report on translation practice introduces the translation process of financial statement documents for two consecutive years from the perspective of translation project management.In the report,the author describes the preparation before translation,the issues during translation,the feedback after translation,as well as the key steps in the implementation process in detail.Several critical steps in the implementation of this translation project are mainly introduced,such as the selection of translation tools,word counting,external and internal repetition rate checking of the documents,and the template pre-editing of the documents.This translation project has its own characteristics.First,the document cannot be directly edited or easily converted;Second,the file format is complex and uncommon;Third,there are too many professional terms;Fourth,the repetition rate of the text is very high;And last,these project documents can be regarded as a series of translation tasks.Based on these characteristics,the author puts forward a translation scheme that focuses on the pre-editing for the template of the source document.The author created a Chinese template of the first-year financial statement,which can be pre-edited for the secondyear and subsequent documents,thus improving translation quality and efficiency.Through the practice of this translation project,the author realized that pre-editing can not only improve the translation quality and efficiency in the implementation of such translation projects,but also help translators to accumulate language assets with great reuse value.The translation scheme which was applied in this translation practice could offer a new idea for the same type of translation projects.
