Referring to the Chinese painting world of the 20th century,there was a person who has no reputation but has to mention now,born in nobles with a complex society,not admit to be a painter but had to sell paintings for a living in the old age,he is Pu Xinyu,who is known as "the last stroke of literati painting".Since the Republic of China,paintings by Pu Xinyu have entered the art market.At that time,the powerful were proud of collecting a piece of handwriting by Pu Xinyu,popularity to Pu Xinyu in the market gave birth to "Pu’s Workshop" substitute painting and massive fake works.Since Pu Xinyu went to Taiwan from the new China,Pu Xinyu’s works are constantly imitated to be fake.The prosperity of the art market has enabled Pu Xinyu re-entered the view of the collectors in China.In the past ten years,there have been more and more works signed "Pu Xinyu" in the large-scale Chinese modern calligraphy and painting auction in China and abroad.Therefore,it becomes more and more important to distinguish the authenticity of Pu Xinyu’s paintings.This paper distinguished his painting works in different periods through the study of Pu Xinyu’s life track.And the different types and styles of their works are analyzed,so as to establish a complete understanding of Pu Xinyu’s paintings.Secondly,the research method of Chinese calligraphy and painting identification was used to thoroughly study and compare the authentic and false works,and to supplement the research on the authentic and false identification of Pu Xinyu’s paintings which is lacking in the academic circles at present.Finally,the past and present of Pu Xinyu’s painting market was analyzed through the survey data and analysis,estimated its market prospects,pointed out the way forward for the calligraphy and painting collection industry.
