| Dalupu Site is located in Yangxin County,Hubei Province. It has been excavated four times since 1984: the excavation in the eastern, northern and western districts of the site in 1984,the excavation in the north part of the eastern district of the site in1990,the excavation in the central part of the eastern district of the site in the first half of 2003,the excavation in the south part of the eastern district of the site in the second part of 2003.Those four excavations have obtained a large number of remains. The Dalupu site can be divided in two periods,The early period consists of the remains of the “Neolithic Age” and the late period consists of the remains of the Shang and Zhou dynasties. This thesis mainly studies the early remains excavated in the eastern district of Dalupu Site in 1990 and 2003.Through systematic research on the remains, unifying the layers between different regions, conducting periodization research on the site, understanding the cultural features of the Dalupu site in the early stage, and further analyzing the issues concerning the origin of early smelting reflected in Dalupu site. This thesis conisits five parts. The first part is to introduce the essential information of Dalupu site.In the second part, this thesis first systematically analyzes the remains of the Dalupu site in the south part of the eastern district in 2003.Based on the changes in the combination relationship between the artifacts and the changes in the level of production technology reflected by the remains, first divided the south part of the eastern district in three periods. In the third and forth part, this thesis analyzed the remains in the central and north parts of the eastern district,do the stage research according to the periodization in the south part of the eastern district. The fifth part is the conclusion of this thesis. In this thesis, the early period of Dalupu site was divided into three periods. The first period includes the tenth and ninth layers of the southern part of the eastern district,in the age of late Qujialing culture. The second period includes the eighth layer and related remains in the south and central part of the eastern district, the ninth and the eighth layer and related remains in the north part of the east district,in the age of the early stage of Shijiahe culture. The third period includes the seventh layer and related remains in the southern and central part of the eastern district, the sixth and seventh layers and related remains in the northern part of the eastern district, the age is the middle and late Shijiahe Culture.Judging from its cultural aspect, the main source of Dalupu site is Qujialing culture, which later developed into a local type of Shijiahe culture.Dalupu Site is located at the junction of three cultural districts: Shijiahe Culture in Hubei Province,Xuejiagang Culture in Anhui Province, and Zhengjiaao Culture in Jiangxi Province.Although the cultural features are mainly that of the Qujialing and Shijiahe cultures, the latter two have had a greater impact.Yangxin County, where the Dalupu site is located, has rich mineral resources and the archaeology sites in this county are distributed along the mineral lodes.During the first period of the Dalupu site, some sanding and thickening pottery jars can be used as smelting vessels were found.During the second period, smelting remains such as smelting slags were discovered.During the third period, alloyed copper sheets were found. These remains reflect the development of bronze smelting from the first period to the third period of Dalupu site.It can be proved that during the late Qujialing culture, people come to this place for the purpose of smelting.During the Shijiahe period, smelting technology is gradually upgraded, make this district one of the important sources of Chinese bronze smelting. |
