Public service advertisements focus on the public interest,aiming to express artistically existing social issues through simple and easy-to-understand graphic language,aiming to increase the public’s attention and understanding of prominent social issues,and call on viewers to regulate their behavior on a certain issue.Nowadays,more and more images are in our sight.As a visual language,how can graphics be better used in our public service advertisements to make it an artistic form of expression with cultural connotation,content,form,and aesthetic concepts?Traditional design often uses the application of visual images as an auxiliary means of textual information,and tends to emphasize self-artistic expression and decorative functions.I thought that as long as some content in the information to be disseminated was displayed or illustrated in the form of pictures,the design was completed.In fact,really good design is not limited to the use of graphics,but also creative transformation of graphics.As far as public service advertisements are concerned,in the process of modern graphic creative design,we should make innovations from the old and "take the essence of the old ideas and discard the dross." Public service advertisements need to use the graphic language that is advancing with the times to speak the "words" that are full of wisdom and inspiration,jump out of the inherent thinking "siege" in the design,and look at problems from an innovative perspective,so as to break through the directional thinking and stimulate design inspiration.This article analyzes and studies the graphic language in print public service advertisements,focusing on the creative application of graphic language in public service posters.Combining theory and practice,it introduces in detail the entire process of practical creation of "Take Me Home" from investigation and research,drafting,poster production to finished product display.It shows the characteristics of creative graphic language and the application of silhouette graphics in the design of public welfare posters,to adapt to the needs of popularization and increase people’s awareness of social issues.
