From Jiaxing County To Xiuzhou

Jiaxing now has jurisdiction over Haining City and four counties of Jiashan,Pinghu,Tongxiang and Haiyan.The system is mainly evolved from Xiuzhou in the state of Wuyue,Jiaxing Road and Jiaxing government in the song,yuan,Ming and Qing Dynasties,and the administrative supervision area after the revolution of 1911.Its jurisdiction can be traced back to Youquan county and Haiyan County in the Qin Dynasty.Jiaxing area has flat terrain,fertile soil,rich water resources and convenient transportation.However,it was difficult to carry out large-scale development before Sui Dynasty,so that it maintained the establishment of two Qin counties for a long time and developed slowly.After entering the Sui Dynasty,with the attention of the state and the renewal of water conservancy technology,Jiaxing made a breakthrough in all aspects,which made sufficient preparation for the establishment of Xiuzhou.Compared with Suzhou and Hangzhou,the rise of Jiaxing in Sui and Tang dynasties can be reflected in three aspects.First,in terms of population and cultural quality,the population of Jiaxing increased steadily in the Tang Dynasty,and the number of Jinshi and poets also increased significantly.Second,on the establishment of administrative districts,Jiaxing added Huating County on the basis of Jiaxing county and Haiyan County,and Jiaxing county was upgraded to Wangxian county.Third,in terms of the level of economic development,Jiaxing’s agriculture,salt industry and textile industry have undergone qualitative changes,and the overall economy has gradually prospered.On this basis,Jiaxing County became Xiuzhou in the Tianfu period,which governed Jiaxing County,Haiyan County,Huating county and Chongde County,and gradually became the capital of Western Zhejiang.In just three hundred years,Jiaxing county has changed from a small county to a fertile state.The reason is intriguing.On the one hand,it has a lot to do with the transformation of low farmland and the large-scale cultivation of farmland;on the other hand,Jiaxing,as the transportation hub between Suzhou and Hangzhou,has made a lot of profits in the regional exchanges.Therefore,it is not surprising that Xiuzhou was founded when the two rulers of Wuyue state,Qian Liu and Qian Yuanyu,wanted to build a new barrier in the north of Hangzhou,their capital.
