| The understanding of Chinese traditional festivals is the key to understand Chinese culture.Besides,the teaching of Chinese traditional festival culture vocabulary is not only can help students to improve their Chinese skills more quickly,but also can increase the interest to learning Chinese culture.It also enables students to have a more comprehensive and systematic understanding of the basics of Chinese culture,understanding the people’s way of thinking and some background knowledge.In teaching Chinese as a foreign language,the teaching of cultural vocabulary is a difficult point.Chinese traditional festival culture vocabulary occupies an important position in vocabulary teaching.However,there is a problem of insufficient attention.At present,there are no sufficient number of manuals or teaching materials,related to traditional festival culture vocabulary and suitable for teaching Chinese as a foreign language,and there is no clear division of traditional festival culture vocabulary.Many of teachers also feel confused at how to determine the scope of such vocabulary and to teach more appropriately.This research focuses on Chinese traditional festival vocabulary.We conducted a systematic studying of eleven Chinese traditional festivals vocabulary,including the analyzing of vocabulary teaching categories,the words cultural connotation and the different ways of classification.In order to understand the actual situation of teaching Chinese traditional festival culture vocabulary we researched some of the intermediate advanced Chinese comprehensive course textbooks and make a statistical analysis of traditional festival vocabulary which it contains.In order to determine the level of students’ understanding of Chinese traditional festival culture vocabulary,we investigated about 75 foreign students,who have reached the intermediate or advanced level of Chinese.In order to understand and analyse problems in teaching such vocabulary,we interviewed teachers,who engaged in Chinese intermediate teaching courses,and learn about their views and attitudes and related experience on traditional festival vocabulary teaching.After an inductive analysis of the survey results of students,teachers,and teaching materials,we proposed an example of a teaching plan and suggestions for teaching material content and teaching methods.The summarized results of the research could provide some reference for future teaching of Chinese as a foreign language. |
