New Year pictures are one of the important carriers of traditional folk culture and the faithful record of folk customs.They depict the popular pictures with pure and beautiful shapes,simple composition and bright colors,which are irreplaceable as other painting forms.New Year pictures,developed from "Door God Paintings",enrich the living scenes and spiritual world of the poor with their unique content and form in such a happy and peaceful festival as the Spring Festival.After the Song Dynasty,the creative techniques of New Year pictures became more diversified,the content and subject matter of New Year pictures also expanded continuously,and their social attributes also changed.Among them,the New Year pictures on the theme of harvest depict to a great extent the hard work of busy farming and the life scene of abundant grain and grain warehouse,which is full of hardships but joy and gratification of labor.After the founding of the People’s Republic of China,the Ministry of Culture of the Central People’s Government issued the Directive on the Work of the New Year Pictures,which had been given political attributes during the Anti-Japanese War increased the official attributes of the New Year Pictures,and became the folk media to publicize the Party’s political work.Subject content from unlimited to focus on the performance of working people popular life scenes and the image of valor and health.The theme of "bumper harvest" was very popular at that time,not only the realistic bumper harvest,but also a series of policies and guidelines beneficial to the people brought about by the founding of New China,which became the specific objects of the image of "bumper harvest",such as learning new ideas,building a new era and other beautiful visions that the country and people in the early socialist period yearned for.Based on the ups and downs of the New Year Picture Movement from 1949 to 1966,the image depiction of multiple "bumper harvest" theme is of more research value.Starting from the rise and development of harvest images in traditional New Year pictures,this paper classifies the harvest theme images collected in the New Year pictures,makes a concrete analysis of their aesthetic characteristics from the two aspects of symbols and cultural metaphors,and further explores the relationship between the "harvest" image New Year pictures and national image building.In the specific historical period from the founding of the People’s Republic of China to 1966,the emotional appeal and aesthetic ideal change in the creation and construction of the New Year Pictures with the theme of "bumper harvest" was deeply imprinted on the people’s ideology under the influence and restriction of the country’s political ideals and moral norms.Shaping the national image,one of the important ways of spread of national ideology,has become a folk art and traditional art in contemporary one way for reference in the development of society,late to continue to study the new China art and the relationship between the national image creation and innovative development of traditional art to provide constructive inspiration and thinking.
