| English writing is an important way of language production,which is also a quiet difficult task for junior high school students.There is a complex psychological cognitive process in English writing,with numerous influencing factors.Writing anxiety and writing strategies are two of the important influencing factors.The author finds that there are abundant single research results for these two variables respectively.However,most researchers focus on college students,and relatively little attention is paid to junior high school students’ English writing anxiety and the use of writing strategies.In addition,there are few research results for their correlation.According to the summary of the previous studies,this study takes 268 students randomly selected from three grades of Shunfeng Junior High School in Foshan as the investigation participants,and the author conducts a survey on these students by combining quantitative and qualitative research.Quantitative research is combined with SPSS20.0 statistical analysis software to conduct descriptive analysis,independent sample T-test and Pearson correlation analysis on the questionnaire sample data to explore the current situation of English writing anxiety,the use of writing strategies,and the correlation between the two.Qualitative research is based on semi-open interviews to further supports the results of quantitative analysis.This dissertation addresses on the following three questions:(1)What is current level of junior high school students’ English writing anxiety?(2)What is general situation of English writing strategy use in junior high school students?(3)Is there any correlation between junior high school students’ English writing anxiety and English writing strategy use? If so,what is the correlation?The results show that :(1)There is a moderate level of writing anxiety in the writing process of junior high school students.(2)The writing strategy use of junior high school students is of moderate frequency.(3)There is a significant negative correlation between English writing anxiety and English writing strategy use for junior high school students.Based on the above research results,this study puts forward corresponding suggestions from the two aspects of relieving junior high school students’ English writing anxiety and strengthening the training of students’ English writing strategies,with a view to providing reference for improving junior high school students’ English writing teaching and learning. |
