Sunward Intelligent has compiled its company biography titled The Technological Development History of Sunward Intelligent(1999-2018)(hereafter referred to as Development History);this report is completed upon the translation practice of the book.Consisting of five main chapters as Ji,Yi,Shu,Fa and Dao,the volume introduces how this international conglomerate concentrated on equipment manufacturing is invigorated in the past two decades in terms of technological products,innovative craft,development model,managerial doctrine and organizational culture,aiming to promulgate the good traditional and innovative spirit of Sunward Intelligent and to imbue employees with its culture.The author explores the current translation studies and find that they pay more attention to biography of figures and less to company biography.Hence,he manages to engage in such practice.This report embraces the “Comprehension,Expression and Adaptation” framework proposed by Professor Li Changshuan and analyzes typical cases in translation of Development History.For the three aspects,“Comprehension” contains cases related to comprehension of titles and subtitles,from discourse,of colloquialism and slogans,“Expression” embraces those related to the use of summational words and internal links within run-on sentences,and “Adaptation” includes those related to necessary deletion and modification of part of the original information.By respectively giving solutions to cases and discussing the strategies and techniques in C-E translation of company biography,the translator concludes that comprehension of original writing background be made for the transmission of company cultures,adequate respect given to the target readership,and wary adaptation be conducted for better translation quality.At last,he notes his flaws in this translation practice,hoping to provide reference to later work.
