With the development of modern educational technology,videos are used in class more than ever by more and more international Chinese teachers.However,there are still some problems: 1.Teachers did not select the materials with consideration on students’ learning level,and subjectively selected and directly used the existing documentaries and films.2.The video platform targeted for Chinese teaching as a second language is still under construction,and there are few related resources that teacher can turn to.Through literature review,it has been found that China’s started out relatively late in terms of English second language teaching relatively early,but fortunately,over the past few years more MOOC videos have been made available for teaching,including the “Chinese Culture English MOOC” which elaborates on Chinese culture in English.This article seeks to look into some systematic English second language teaching resources,and carried out research on adapting the “Chinese Culture English MOOC” and designed it into Chinese second language teaching resources.This article looks into three types of video resources: Chinese cultural film works,Chinese cultural documentaries and Chinese cultural English MOOC from the subject matters,duration,evaluation,and age of the video resources.The three types of video materials are compared in terms of “language standard”,“shooting purpose and duration”,and “video platform”,and the advantages and disadvantages of the Chinese culture English MOOC compared to the other two types of videos are summarized;then this article adapted the video “food culture” in “Talking about China in English”based on the audio-visual teaching method,input hypothesis and output hypothesis theory,and made corresponding teaching design,and proposed methods to test its teaching effect.This study found out through comparative analysis that Chinese cultural English MOOC has the following advantages compared with other two types of videos: the language follows standards,the content is digestible for readers,the length is acceptable,the courses are designed for teaching,the platform is well-built with complementary information.And according to the relevant adaptation theory,the Chinese cultural English MOOC is actually adapted to make it suitable for the teaching of Chinese as a second language.
