This thesis is based on the translation of excerpts of A General Introduction to Music Archaeology,written by Professor Fang Jianjun of Tianjin Conservatory of Music,which is an award-winning top-ten monograph of the year 2020.This monograph discusses about the definition,research object,research method of music archeology as well as music archaeological culture,restoration of ancient instruments,etc.in 15 chapters.Being the first comprehensive book on music archaeology,this book bears important academic significance.It is being translated by three translators and I mainly translated chapter one,four,eleven,fourteen,etc.In this thesis,I will focus on the translation of terms and proper names for music archeology.Based on the translation theories such as “domestication and foreignization”,cultural perspective and eco-translatology,I will use transliteration,transliteration +interpretation,literal translation and free translation to guide my translation task,and summarize the translation strategies suitable for different types of terms and proper names in addition to an introduction of computer-aided terminology management.
