The Presentation Of Buddhist Thoughts In Seal Cutting Since The Qing Dynasty

Religion,as a cultural phenomenon,has been occupying a very important position in the long history of human beings and has exerted an imperceptible influence on all aspects of people’s lives.At present,there is no final conclusion on the specific time when Buddhism was introduced into China,and the academic circles generally agree that the end of Han Dynasty.Since Buddhism was introduced into China,it has been colliding and merging with Chinese culture.Buddhism first spread with the help of folk superstition of gods and spirits,and then carried forward among the literati by relying on the literary trend of thought.Thus,it successfully entered the elegant study of literati and even entered the prominent imperial palace.In this process,Buddhism has exerted a great influence on Chinese calligraphy,painting,sculpture,architecture,literature,philosophy,folklore and so on,and seal cutting is no exception.The influence on seal engraving is mainly reflected in image seal,text seal,and the related seal theory.Zhang Xuejin made a systematic exposition of the origin and evolution of the Buddha statue seal in his article "The Origin and Evolution of the Buddha statue seal in China".There are few writings about the text seal and the related seal theory of Buddhism,and the occasional dabble is scattered in the collection of essays and the print.This paper attempts to take several typical seal cutting masters as the breakthrough point,to discuss the specific embodiment of Buddhist thoughts in seal cutting since the Ming and Qing Dynasties,and to explore the development and evolution of Buddhist thoughts in seal cutting in the big times from the subtle changes.Based on the buddhist thought embodies as the research focus in the seal cutting for carding the related data,the points on the structure of the four parts to unfold,on the detailed elaboration,respectively: "theory" of seal cutting phenomenon associated with the Buddha pattern,since the qing dynasty text printing rendered in Buddhism,Buddha is printed in modern and contemporary rendering,the Buddha of seal cutting creation inspiration to me.The influence of Buddhism on seal cutting was first reflected in the theory of seal learning.Buddhist thought was initially externalized in the world of literati and officials in the aspect of poetry and prose.Due to the lateness of seal engraving,the literati participated in the early stage of seal engraving,and seal engraving theories borrowed from and even copied the theories of poetry,painting and calligraphy.Influenced by Buddhist thought,the character seal and the Buddha image seal are two strange flowers in seal cutting,which are born from the same root and grow side by side.Their blooming is similar but has its own characteristics.Text printing has been relatively common lukewarm,Buddha statues in the early stage of relatively lonely,once in full bloom is in full bloom.The main characters of the seal are directly taken from the original Buddhist scriptures,the idler seal derived from Buddhist thoughts,the monk seal,the lay monk seal,the chai seal,the poem seal,the zen story seal and so on.Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties,the Buddha statue in seal cutting mainly appeared in the border section,which to some extent is the continuation of the funeral custom in the statue tablet.After the Republic of China,it was common for Buddha statues to appear in the printing surface,and his religious meaning was greatly weakened and his artistic quality was continuously strengthened.The Buddha image seal belongs to the Xiaoform seal,but because of its unique subjectivity and universality to a certain extent began to break away from the shackles of the traditional Xiaoform seal,its own system began to see the scale.In modern and contemporary special Buddha seal exhibition has emerged in an endless stream.The Buddha statue seal has long been no longer limited to the simple imitation of statue stele and grottoes.Shanye clay,Tchao,copper Buddha,Dunhuang frescoes,bricks and tiles,rubbings,etc.,have all been absorbed by seal engravers.There was even the idealization and symbolization of the Buddha image seal.The style and appearance are rich and colorful.As a graduation thesis of the last foothold in the Buddha seal on my seal creation inspiration.There is no standard answer for art.I can only say that I look at it from the shoulders of giants,and at the same time,I follow my own feelings and experiences to explore and create art.
