Research On The Characteristics And Design Application Of Traditional Color Culture In Beijing

Beijing is a city with a long history,prosperous and profound culture.Down the ages,traditional colors have always played an extremely important role in the city of Beijing,which are the most intuitive embodiment of Beijing’s regional culture.Sorting the cultural characteristics of traditional colors are not only the summary of outstanding traditional color cultural achievements in the Beijing area but also an important measure for inheritance,protection,and development.In this paper,from the perspective of cultural characteristics,through the method of literature investigation,expert interview,field investigation,and other research;it systematically sorts out,analyzes,and integrates the representative fields of traditional colors of Beijing area,which includes Peking Opera costume(clothing),Beijing traditional snack(food),ancient architecture(housing)and Yanjing Eight(use),etc.From these methods,it concluded that the traditional colors in the Beijing area have seven characteristics,which are inheritance,ethnicity,regionality,hierarchy,integration,popularity,and exoticism.These seven major characteristics will establish a strong foundation for better inheriting the traditional colors of Beijing and exploring its modern design value in the future.
