| The New Global Powers and Europe, written by Professor Alexander Tomov,Sofia University,Bulgaria,is an academic monograph on political economy. The text of this translation practice is selected from Chapter 10 and Chapter 11 of this book.It mainly discusses a multipolar world structure consisting of global, regional forces and their satellites will come into being, when a unipolar world with only one superpower can no longer cope with the complex evolution of the international pattern. In the translation process of the original text, the author finds that the text has the characteristics of political and economic texts, which brings difficulties and challenges to the overall translation practice. In the process of studying translation strategies, methods and techniques,Eugene Nida’s innovative combination of information theory and translation studies plays a guiding role in this translation practice. Therefore, this translation practice report will be based on the case analysis, and will carry out translation discussion and analysis from two aspects of the adjustment of redundant balance, namely, the adjustment of semantic overload and formal overload. In terms of semantic overload, this paper mainly discusses the translation techniques such as adding category words, adding background knowledge of words and implicate meaning of sentences. In terms of formal overload, this paper mainly discusses the translation techniques such as word formation, sentence pattern transformation and the redundant adjustment within and between paragraphs. This translation practice report is a summary of this translation practice and is expected to provide some theoretical inspiration and methodological guidance for translation in this field. At the same time,it is also expected that this translation practice will play a positive role in effectively realizing the social function of the translation of political and economic texts. |
