Research On The Relationship Between Diplomacy And Literature In The Northern And Southern Dynasties

In the Northern and Southern Dynasties,some official diplomats of this period were famous for their intelligence and scholarship.Famous scholars became diplomats in the Northern and Southern Dynasties with its profound historical background.Literature excellence was an important prerequisite for the scholars to participate in the diplomacy,and the scholars in the diplomacy also promoted the cultural exchange between the North and the South with its unique identity advantage.This dissertation bases on the official diplomats with their literary work of the Northern and Southern Dynasties.Focusing on diplomacy,this dissertation investigates the phenomenon of scholars’ participation in the diplomatic activities and their creation in the Northern and Southern Dynasties,and discusses the interactive relationship between diplomacy and literature,hoping to help expand the study of literature of the period.The full dissertation revolves on the following four parts:The first chapter is the definition of the relationship between diplomacy and literature.Firstly,define the concept of diplomacy,determine the scope of research according to the specific historical situation.Secondly,define the relationship between diplomacy and literature,and roughly outline the historical presentation of the relationship between diplomacy and literature.The second chapter combs the scholars and their creation in the Southern and Northern Dynasties.Firstly,investigate the historical background of scholars’ participation in the diplomacy,summarize the basic situation and identity characteristics of the scholars involved in diplomacy.Based on that,make textual criticism of the literary texts,from which to form an overall view of the literary creation in the Northern and Southern Dynasties.The third chapter explores the influences of diplomacy on literature during the Southern and Northern Dynasties.The diplomacy in the Southern and Northern Dynasties opened up the creative vision of the engaged scholars.The scholars missed their motherland during the journey,expressing complex emotions,such as the native country mood and the foreign land experience.The literary creation in the diplomacy gives new connotations to the traditional literary images and allusions.The scholars in the diplomacy also promote the change of literary creation style to a certain extent.The fourth chapter summarizes the cultural connotation of historical phenomenon of scholars’ diplomatic activities in the Southern and Northern Dynasties.Scholars in the diplomacy promotes the cultural exchange between the North and the South in their own way.Diplomacy of the Southern and Northern Dynasties continues the pre-Qin tradition that scholars make poetry at the public banquet,and promotes communication between scholars.Cultural atmosphere in diplomacy reveals unique charm,and lays the necessary foundation for the reunification of the Northern and Southern Dynasties.
