A Study On Richard Rorty’s Anti-Essential Aesthetic Thought

Richard Rorty is one of the main representatives of American neo-pragmatism.He integrated the methods and ideas of analytical philosophy and continental philosophy into the pragmatism of the United States,thus developing the philosophical connotation of pragmatism.The formation of Richard Rorty’s anti-essentialist aesthetic thought is inextricably linked with analytical philosophy,pragmatism and European philosophy.And his new pragmatism thought is influenced by social environment,family environment,time background and philosophical thinker to some extent.This thesis makes a systematic study of Richard Rorty’s anti-essentialist aesthetic thought,which shows that his thought is in line with the spiritual value of American rebellion against tradition and pursuing individualism in 1960 s.This thesis will study the anti-essentialism aesthetic thought in a holistic way,combining the text reading and hermeneutics.On the basis of the later philosophical culture and relying on its new pragmatism,this paper briefly combs the theoretical roots of anti-essentialism aesthetics,and focuses on the research on the connotation,characteristics and practical embodiment of anti-essentialism aesthetics.This paper analyzes the relationship between anti-essentialism aesthetics and postmodern culture and art.In the critical view of the later modern aesthetic thought,it reflects on its anti-essentialism aesthetic thought,and evaluates its value and limitation in the process of reflection.This topic will be based on Richard Rorty’s anti-essentialist aesthetic thought in the context of the transformation of American philosophy to pragmatism.The first chapter will briefly discuss the background of Richard Rorty’s anti-essentialism aesthetic thought,and provide the basis for the study of his anti-essentialism aesthetic thought on the basis of full study of historical data.
