With the further acceleration of the economic globalization process, the interdependence among countries around the world has increasingly enhanced, which brings new questions for culture as well as unprecedented opportunities and challenges for public policy. Therefore, the author of this paper selected the first two chapters of the book entitled Culture and Public Policy for Sustainable Development, published by UNESCO in 2019,as the material of the translation practice. And the author analyzed the difficulties in the translation and shared how these problems were solved with the guide of the Skopos Theory of Hans Vermeer. It aimed to offer specific case reference for the translation of informative text and to make helpful suggestions for cross-cultural communications in this field. This report can be segmented into five parts. The first part introduced the task of the translation. The second part gave a description of the processes of the translation. The third part briefly reviewed the Skopos Theory of Hans Vermeer and discussed the Three Principle’s application to the translation of the informative text. The fourth part was the cases analysis. The author of this report analyzed the difficulties in the translation of vocabularies, sentences and discourses to find the proper translation strategies. The fifth part was the summary of the report, summarizing the author’s gains and shortcomings in this translation practice.Through this translation practice, the author found that a translator needs to have a sound grasp of the linguistic features of the informative text and its related technical terms before the translation. And a translator should make clear the purpose of translation—the target language should be faithful to the source language, achieving semantic coherence and making the target readers understand and accept the translation. In addition, the author’s translation skills have improved a lot. However, there are still rooms for the improvement in professional background and the theory of translation. And the continuing efforts will be made in these aspects in the future.
