Vocabulary teaching plays an important role in English teaching.However,in actual teaching,the vocabulary class is relatively boring and the classroom activities lack innovation,so the current situation of English vocabulary learning of middle school students in our country is not optimistic.The multimodal teaching mode can use multimedia technology to mobilize students’ multiple senses and make students more active in classroom learning.This research combines the multimodal teaching mode with middle school English vocabulary teaching,and discusses the following issues: 1.Can multimodal vocabulary teaching mode improve the vocabulary learning performance of middle school students? 2.What are the attitudes of middle school students towards multimodal English vocabulary teaching? 3.Can multimodal vocabulary teaching mode enhance middle school students’ interest in English vocabulary learning?To explore research questions,a four-month experiment was carried out in a middle school in Xuchang.The subjects were from the seventh grade,with 40 students in each class.Class 1 is an experimental class that uses a multimodal teaching mode,and class 2 is a control class that uses a traditional teaching mode to teach vocabulary.We mainly use test,questionnaire,and interview to explore research questions,and use SPSS 19.0 to perform statistical analysis on the data.The results showed that: through the test,the vocabulary scores of the students in the control class were far lower than those in the experimental class,indicating that the multimodal vocabulary teaching mode can improve the English vocabulary scores of middle school students.Through the questionnaire,it can be found that the multimodal vocabulary teaching mode allows students to better concentrate their attention in the multimodal vocabulary class.Therefore,students have a positive attitude towards this mode.Finally,through the interview,we found that under the multimodal teaching mode,the middle school students think that vocabulary learning is no longer boring,and they can easily complete the learning and use of words,therefore,it can be concluded that under the multimodal vocabulary teaching mode,the vocabulary learning interest of middle school students has been improved.
