| In recent years, the environmental remediation of Erhai Lake in Dali has not only attracted the attention of the local government and people but also aroused the widespread concern of people from all walks of life at home and abroad. The translation task originates from the subtitle translation of the anthropological documentary Home of the Fish Eagles, which records where the fish eagles and fishers should go in the process of environmental governance in Erhai Lake and the evolution of the spirit world of fishers of Bai ethnic group.Since this translation task is originated from a localized documentary, and its subtitles contained a large number of dialects, folk sayings and words with local characteristics, the author of the translation report adopts ecological translation as the theoretical guidance. The author combines the theory with case analysis, focusing on the difficulties including language and cultural barriers encountered in the subtitle translation. The key lies in how translators make better "adaptation" and "selection" from the linguistic, cultural, and communicative dimensions, thus verifying the guiding significance of eco-translatology theory to documentary subtitle translation. This translation report is also a supplement to the theoretical perspective of subtitle translation in anthropological documentary studies. |
