The improvement of teaching mode is of great significance to the cultivation of translation talents in China.According to the literature research, there are three problems in the teaching of MTI in the past: firstly, the theoretical teaching and practical teaching of MTI are not well integrated;secondly, the interactive relationship in the teaching of MTI is not obvious;thirdly, the offline teaching and online teaching of MTI are not well integrated. In order to solve these problems, the academic community has actively explored in multiple directions and perspectives on how to cultivate high-quality translation talents in MTI majors.Among the many translation teaching modes explored, the mode of translation project is a practical translation teaching mode oriented to market demand. The introduction of translation projects into translation teaching can cultivate students’ practical and professional translation skills. Therefore, this paper applies the action research method, and carries out the teaching design of the Theories and Practices of Translation Studies course according to the ITDEM model, streamlining the translation project management process, innovating the translation contents, and expanding the interaction methods.Based on the above-mentioned reflections, this paper conducts a teaching exploration on the MTI course Theories and Practices of Translation Studies at UESTC,with the MTI students of grade 2019 as the research subjects.Through lectures and translation exercises,Theories and Practices of Translation Studies is designed to help students understand contemporary translation theories and select translation strategies based on text types. After a semester of teaching exploration, this thesis sorts out the practice of translation project, analyzes the teaching effect according to the feedback of students, and puts forward the main improvement direction in the future. It is hoped that this exploration can provide reference for MTI curriculum reform in other colleges and universities, and make some contributions to translation teaching research and practice. This thesis consists of four chapters.Chapter one is the introduction, which introduces the research background, research significance and literature review;Chapter Two is the research overview, which introduces the research methodology and translation project process design;Chapter Three is the data analysis, which introduces implementation of the practice and effect analysis;Chapter Four is the conclusion, which summarizes the teaching practice.
