In recent years,mexican-american directors are getting more and more worldwide attention,among which,Alejandro González I?árritu is a typical representative.In his creation career,González has only 6 long films directed by himself,but he has maintained a high level of artistic quality and won the praise of international audiences.One of the reasons is that González is good at using film rhetoric devices to tell stories,thus finding the best balance within artistry,ideology and appreciation,and promoting the crosscultural communication of films.This thesis is based on the 6 films directed by González as the research object: Amores Perros,21 Grams,Babel,Biutiful,Birdman or(The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance),The Revenant.With the theory of film rhetoric,this thesis tries to research the use of film rhetoric devices in González’s films,and seek inspiration for the development of Chinese film.The full thesis is divided into three parts: introduction,body and conclusion.The introduction briefly introduces the basic creation condition of González,and explains the research background,academic value,application value,theoretical basis,domestic and foreign research summary.The main body is divided into four chapters.The first chapter analyzes the theory of film rhetoric and its relationship with González’s films.It consists of two sections.The first section discusses the concept of film rhetoric,including the definition and theoretical development of film rhetoric,the relationship between film rhetoric and film narrative,the meaning and basic form of image figures of speech.The second section discusses the relationship between González’s films and film rhetoric,including the reasons for the use of film rhetoric devices in González’s films and its influence.The second chapter analyzes the use of image figures of speech in González’s films.It consists of two sections.The first section discusses image figures of speech in the sense of single “camera language”,including the use and effect of long-length and close-up.The second section discusses image figures of speech in the sense of multiple “camera language”,including the use and effect of illustrious rhetoric,implied rhetoric and biased rhetoric.The third chapter analyzes the symbolic rhetoric image in González’s films.It consists of two sections.The first section discusses visual rhetoric,including the dog’s metaphor in Amores Perros and the tree’s metaphor in The Revenant.The second section discusses is acoustic rhetoric,including the multi-language world,the diverse music world and the noisy sound world.The fourth chapter analyzes the inspirations of González’s director’s art for Chinese film.It consists of two sections.The first section discusses the main movie theme.The second section discusses how to tell stories in a better way,including the use of the film rhetoric and endless innovation.Finally,the conclusion outlines the rhetorical features and overall style of the González’s films and inspirations for Chinese film.
