This report describes the author’s experience as an internship translator, dealing with the translation of alcoholic drink items from Chinese into English in the International Trade Company of Sichuan liquor Group from 1st of July to 5th of September in 2019.It is required that the translated versions should be true,accurate,concise,evidence-based,logical,orderly and theme-related concerning the shapes, properties and specialties of the given merchandise meant for import and export. These requirements just fit the four maxims of the cooperative principles in translation.Upon the awareness of this fact the author of the report intentionally uses the principles to do his work from the onset of the translation. The focus of the present discussion is on many aspects of the translation of the means of communication between trade partners, involving development letter, inquiry, counteroffer, quotation, contract, packaging, insurance and claim.Besides,it is unavoidable for the author to touch upon cultural differences and their role in the consideration of the translation.Comparison and contrast are the basic methods used in the discussion. It is the hope of the author that the case studies will help to demonstrate such a fact that the cooperative principles can facilitate a good translation of alcoholic drink items in foreign trade correspondence, which is much better than a translation prompted from mere intuition or flimsy experience.
