As one “leaf”of The Nine-leaf School of Poetry,Tang Shi’s creations of many long narrative poetry had filled the weak system of Chinese narrative poem.Tang Shi’s narrative poem created on the basis of the southern folk legends have developed China with its Pastoral creation,and some other long narrative poem based on historical legends are quite epic,which complemented the modern Chinese epic creations.The contradiction between significance in Tang Shi’s narrative poem and the weak research status points out a great value for the relevant researchesThe introduction part sorts out the relevant researches on Tang Shi and his poem,the following three chapters illustrated his poetic origin,narrative contents,and narrative art of his poem created during the year from 1958 to 1978.The first chapter focused on the content of Tang Shi’s narrative poem.His narrative poem present the complementary themes of southern legend and historical legend.The former ones which possess the mysterious and magical Pastoral are the fairy-tale like Utopia constructed to transcend suffering during that hard years;the latter ones which contain the noble aesthetics shouldered his deep concern on reality.The second chapter analyzed the narrative arts of Tang Shi’s narrative poem.He narrated along the stream of consciousness with a definite direction which agrees to his historical narrative poem through reminiscent narration and lots of monologues.these determined the main focalization in his narrative poem being zero focalization and internal focalization Which shaped the dramatic plot structure,the complementary narrative of linear progression and loop-back,the crossing and interval narrative space-time,the "asymmetrical drama Dialogue",Internalized contradictions with monologue,and plot structure with suspended narrative climax.All of those contributed to the dramatic development of the plot.The third chapter is mainly about how the British romanticism nurtured Tang Shi on his romantic temperament,how the Modernism influenced his narrative techniques,and how Chinese classical and modern narrative poem support a ”Neoclassicism” foundation in his Poetic aesthetics.
