| As a textbook reflecting reality,Strange Interlude became a best-seller after it was published.After the careful reading of the playtext,it can be found that many narrations and monologues are used to describe the inner world of characters,and some vulgar language and interjections are used in the dialogues to represent interaction and emotional conflicts between people.Meanwhile,the author uses many figures of speech such as transferred epithet,simile,and amplification to increase the vividness of characters,which makes the drama language more attractive.However,about the research on this drama,domestic scholars mainly focus on literature,ethics,and psychology and there is a lack of research on the rendition of the playtext,so further research is needed.Moreover,because the playtext is required to have not only performability but also readability in the process of drama translation,the translator should pay attention to the integration of translation.Meanwhile,not only language but also culture should be concerned in the process of translation and the final stage effect should also be taken seriously,which makes translation more difficult.As a kind of comprehensive discipline,eco-translatology stresses the integration of the translation and pays attention to the entire translational eco-environment including the social and cultural environment,translator,and reader,so it is suitable to give guidance to drama translation.Under this theory,translation adaptation and selection is the core theory and three-dimensional transformation is the major translation method.Moreover,the concept of post-event penalty which stresses the reassessment of the rendition reminds the translator to pay more attention to the result of the translation.In this research,the author firstly analyzes the translator Wang Shiwei’s adaptation to the translation ecological environment.Secondly,through case studies,the author makes a comparison between the original text and rendition by analyzing the translation transformation from the aspects of linguistic,culture,and communication.After research,it can be found that in the rendition of Strange Interluder,the translator makes adaptation to translation eco-environment.Meanwhile,the translator makes some selections to some dimensions.This research pays attention to the performability and readability of drama translation,which will provide new perspectives for drama translation.Meanwhile,the research on Strange Interlude under eco-translatology will not only broaden research perspectives of drama but also enrich the research on eco-translatology. |
