The Gu Zheng Concerto 《Lu You and Tang Wan》was commissioned by composer Gu Zheng performer Xiaoci Luo and composed by Zhanghao He.It’s a precedent masterpiece in Chinese folk music because it has combined Gu Zheng performance,on-site calligraphy,Symphony Chorus and poetry recitation.This masterpiece is the ultimate demonstration of the Gu Zheng art’s improvement and innovation.The work uses the real historical story of love tragedy of Lu You and Tang Wan as the background.In order to clearly visualize the characters for viewers,composer integrated the Song Ci "Chai Tou Feng" with Yue opera singing into the music,calligraphic performance style also been added to sculpt characters personalities meticulously.From the perspective of the tragic characters in the Guzheng Concerto "Lu you and Tang Wan",this paper analyzes the Guzheng work in detail from four aspects:the tragic theme,the theme of the characters,the tragic tone color and the emotional expression.It is hoped that through this article,the public’s deep emotional understanding and expression of the Guzheng art will be strengthened,and at the same time,the Guzheng players will be encouraged to more closely portray the three-dimensional tragic characters in Guzheng works.
