In the history of overseas migration in Okinawa,the Okinawan in Hawaii are a group of concern.However,there are few researches on this group in domestic academic circles.The author took Okinawans,who emigrated to Hawaii from 1899 to 1941,as the research object,and collected and collated a large number of Japanese and English materials.This paper tries to analyze the historical background of the immigrants from Okinawa and Hawaii the social situation at that time,and divides the course of Okinawa immigrants into three periods according to the different immigration policies of the American government.It also explored in depth the economic achievements and the degree of social integration of Okinawan immigrants in Hawaii,and pointed out that the gap between Okinawan and native Japanese immigrants to some extent prevented each other from communicating.In conclusion,although the life of Hawaii Okinawans with more opportunities and challenges is not smooth,they are constantly self-adjustment gradually rooted in Hawaii society.
